We are an English couple who have spent more than ten years living and travelling in Asia and South America.

Our policy is to provide quality services at reasonable prices while helping to protect and preserve the island’s environment.

Shambala does not have a swimming pool or air conditioning, the sea and its breezes serve us well, and our intention is to provide a calm, tropical experience that blends with the local culture and climate.

Our team of friendly and capable Thai staff are one of the resort’s biggest assets, and together we do our very best to make everyone feel relaxed and at home.

A large selection of books and magazines are available for those who want to relax and unwind while surrounded by nature.

We also have a DVD player and TV for you to watch movies. Ask us about our selection.


Our large tropical garden is full of butterflies and flowering plants, and there are plenty of places to just kick back and take in the beautiful views.

The beachfront terrace restaurant serves an excellent selection of Thai and western dishes, all of which are freshly prepared by our experienced Thai cooks. We also offer fruit shakes, tasty yoghurt smoothies and a selection of creative cocktails, as well as a number of Shambala specials that bring people back again and again.

Try our tasty Southern Thai curries - bursting with flavour and full of crispy fresh vegetables, or savour the taste of barbecued seafood, bought direct from local fisherman and cooked to order right by the sea.

Traditional Thai massage is available every day at Shambala with our on resident massage lady ‘Auntie Deng’, who is known throughout the village for her ‘magic hands’.

Koh Samui is a developing island with all of the usual tourist attractions, at Shambala we prefer to promote the less commercial side of the island. There are a number of spa treatments and alternative therapies on offer at various locations including yoga, reiki, massage and fasting programmes.

At Shambala we have all the local information you need for a pleasant and rewarding stay on Koh Samui.

We are happy to recommend a variety of establishments such as Spas and health therapies, both on Samui, and on her sister islands of Koh Pha-Ngan and Koh Tao.

Through us you can book the fast boat to Koh Tao or Koh Pha-Ngan, rent motorbikes and cars, or arrange taxis around the island or to the airport.

We only work with companies that we have ourselves tried, and those that make an effort to preserve the island’s natural resources.
